GLENORCHY: The elven forest of Galadriel and Saruman's fortress.
Glenorchy, a small town north of Queenstown, was one of the key filming locations in The Lord of the Rings. Its spectacular and untouched landscapes served as the backdrop for several iconic places in Middle-earth.
For example, the shores of Lake Wakatipu were used as the setting for Isengard, Saruman’s fortress.
This Lord of the Rings-themed excursion will take you along the stunning rural road that connects Queenstown with the remote settlement of Paradise, further north where some scenes from Galadriel’s elven forest were filmed! A chance to marvel at the breathtaking beauty of these alpine landscapes.
ARCADIA AND MOUNT ASPIRING NATIONAL PARK: Isildur’s journey.
Mount Aspiring National Park served as the backdrop for numerous iconic scenes of the Misty Mountains, including the snowy pass crossed by the Fellowship and the place where Boromir encounters the Ring! Its dramatic and untamed landscapes added an epic and unforgettable atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Arcadia Station, located in Paradise (near Glenorchy), was transformed into the setting of Isengard and Beorn’s home. Surrounded by majestic mountains and crystal-clear lakes, this area offers such stunning natural beauty that it looks like it was taken straight from Middle-earth!
The best part? You can explore these places on a tour worthy of any member of the Fellowship of the Ring. Put on a LOTR costume and a sword too, if you want!
MOUNT SUNDAY: Edoras, la capital de Rohan.
Commonly known as Edoras, Mount Sunday in the Canterbury region is an almost spiritual experience! You’ll love it!
Transformed into the capital of Rohan, the hike to the summit where Théoden’s Great Hall was built requires dedication and endurance, but the reward is unmatched! A 360-degree panoramic view that captures exactly the same horizon the Rohirrim saw on screen.
