Doune Castle doubles as the Clan MacKenzie seat where Jamie and Claire stay for a time as guests of Colum MacKenzie.

CULROSS: Cranesmuir in the series.
In the ancient Kingdom of Fife, rich in Scottish history, lies the picturesque village of Culross, which represents Cranesmuir in the series, where Claire faced witchcraft accusations.
In addition, this enchanting corner of the Scottish countryside is one of the best-preserved examples of a typical Scottish burgh from the 17th and 18th centuries.
FALKLAND: Inverness in the series.
The charming village of Falkland, which stands in for 1940s Inverness in Outlander, is a true gem for history and architecture lovers!
Once a royal village, located at the foot of the Lomond Hills, it’s renowned for being home to Falkland Palace, built in 1500 by James IV. The palace is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Renaissance architecture in the UK.
BLACKNESS CASTLE: Fort William in the series.
The majestic Blackness Castle (which serves as Fort William in the series) was built in the 15th century in the town of the same name.
Back then, it was the main port of the royal burgh of Linlithgow and a Scottish royal residence.
