The first stop will be Midhope Castle (Jamie’s family home in the series) a tower house dating from the 15th century whose exterior is practically intact (though unfortunately, the interior is abandoned and cannot be visited). The tour continues to Doune Castle (where Jamie and Claire spend some time as guests of clan chief Colum MacKenzie); remember that entrance is not included in the tour price but is definitely worth it to visit one of the most impressive medieval banquet halls in all of Scotland! The next stops are the picturesque villages of Culross and Falkland (which stand in for Cranesmuir and Inverness respectively in the series), and finally the magnificent Blackness Castle (the village of Fort William in the fiction).
