VISIT THE RUINS OF DRAGONSTONE CASTLE IN PORTUGAL!
CASTLE OF MONSANTO (Idanha-a-Nova): Dragonstone.
Monsanto is known as “the most Portuguese town” since 1938. This tiny hilltop town inland singularity are the narrow and steep streets carved into the rocky landscape.
On the very top of the mountain where strong winds blow through, the ruins of Castle of Monsanto (Castelo de Monsanto) can be found covered by wild flowers. This was a fortress from the 13th century which the show transformed into Dragonstone with some digital effects. Do you want to visit this location? Here, Daemon Targaryen and his dragon threaten a couple of guards under the watchful eye of Jacaerys Velaryon in the last episode of season one.
Monsanto is located in the municipality of Castelo Branco, only a few kilometres from the Spanish border and 140 kilometres away from Cáceres (another House of the Dragon filming location).
And its enormous granite boulders that fell from the mountain back in the day are something unique worth seeing.
