Experience ‘The Godfather’: Tours, Restaurants, and Themed Activities

Are you The Godfather's number one fan? Discover the best experiences!

‘The Godfather’ is not only one of the most iconic film sagas in movie history, but it has also left an indelible mark on us.

If you, like us, are unable to decide which of the three films you like the most, and can’t resist quoting “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse” then you’ll love these unique activities!

1. ‘The Godfather’ Tour to Iconic Filming Locations in New York and Sicily

For the adventurous fans, there’s nothing like strolling around the very places where the most iconic scenes of ‘The Godfather‘ were filmed. From the streets of New York to the picturesque landscapes of Sicily, a specialized tour will allow you to discover the magic behind each location.

Visiting the famous Bar Vitelli on the island of Salina, or the Supreme Court in Manhattan, will transport you directly to the most memorable scenes of the saga.

The best option is to book a guided tour to learn more about all the historical and cinematic details that make these places even more special.

If you’re traveling to Sicily, we recommend including Taormina in your itinerary. Taormina is known as the ‘Saint-Tropez of Italy’ for being the designated vacation spot of stars like Cary Grant, Elizabeth Taylor, and Audrey Hepburn!

This tour also includes a visit to Savoca, Taormina, and Castelmola, as well as a delicious brunch with typical Sicilian products and red wine from Mount Etna (included in the price).

In Los Angeles, a visit to the Paramount Studios in Hollywood is a must. Many of the saga’s interior scenes were filmed in these studios, and its tours allow you to explore the original sets and props that brought the Corleones and their world to life.

2. Dinner at ‘The Godfather’ Restaurant in Sicily

Who hasn’t dreamed of enjoying a meal in true Corleone family style? In Sicily, you can have a unique dining experience at the famous Bar Vitelli restaurant.

This bar became famous for the scene where Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino) proposes to Apollonia. Enjoying a delicious pasta while immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the movie is something no Godfather fan should miss.

Try the pasta with fresh fish, a very popular dish in the region, and pair it with a good local wine!

3. Immerse Yourself in the Corleone Museum

If you prefer something cultural, the The Godfather‘ Museum in Corleone, Sicily, is the perfect place to visit. Here, you can see an amazing collection of original props from the films, such as costumes, scripts, and memorabilia from the actors. Plus, you’ll learn about the real-life Italian mafia bosses who inspired the saga.

Also, from Palermo, you can learn more about the real-life history of the Italian Mafia and explore the ‘The Godfather‘ world featured in the movies! This tour straddles the line between fiction and reality, allowing you to uncover the darkest secrets of the city of Palermo!

4. Join ‘The Godfather’ Event

If you’re looking for something more interactive, there are several festivals and themed events dedicated to The Godfather that take place every year.

These events range from outdoor screenings to costume parties where you can dress up as your favorite characters. Some big cities, like New York, also offer special tours with actors portraying characters from the saga.

If you get the chance, attend a The Godfather marathon to enjoy the entire saga in one sitting, surrounded by other “Corleones” who share your passion.

And… why not go ahead and organize your own ‘The Godfather‘ movie marathon?

5. Rent a Corleone-Style House

Can you imagine spending a weekend in a Sicilian villa with the elegance and luxury that define the Corleone family? There are several restored countryside houses in Sicily that allow you to live like a true member of the family. Enjoy breathtaking views, a peaceful atmosphere, and, of course, traditional Italian food.

If you have the opportunity to rent a villa, be sure to visit the small nearby towns for an authentic experience.

During his stay in Sicily, Michael Corleone stayed at Castello degli Schiavi, a majestic 17th-century Baroque castle in Fiumefreddo, just a few kilometers from Taormina. This was the setting for one of the most emotional scenes of the saga: the death of Don Vito.

Unfortunately, it cannot be rented, but very nearby, you can stay in a charming traditional Sicilian countryside house like this one!

6. Buy Exclusive ‘The Godfather‘ Merchandise

One way to keep the saga alive is by taking home a unique souvenir. From replicas of movie props to items inspired by its characters, like keychains of Don Vito Corleone or T-shirts with iconic quotes from the saga, you can easily find a wide range of exclusive merchandise at specialized stores and online.

A great idea is to read or reread Mario Puzo’s novel, which the movie’s script is based on!

Or enjoy the special 50th anniversary edition of the trilogy (4K UHD + Blu-ray).

7. Buy Tickets for a Live Concert!

One of the most powerful elements from ‘The Godfather‘ is its soundtrack. Nino Rota’s music has become iconic in cinema history. Some international events offer live concerts where the original score is performed. If you have the chance to attend one of these concerts, it will be an unforgettable experience.

However, if you can’t make it to one of this live events, you can always relax on a comfy sofa and enjoy ‘The Godfather‘ (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).
