This 3-hour tour of Mérida, the “Spanish Rome”, showcases a temple, gladiator games and chariot races, Roman baths, and the magnificent amphitheater where scenes for the battles in Gladiator were filmed!

The tour is a journey to the most authentically Roman Mérida. It begins at the Temple of Diana, a place of worship for the gods and the emperor, before continuing to the baths, where the numerous pools were heated or cooled using furnaces and the incredible snow well.

The tour includes a visit to one of the largest and best-preserved Roman circuses in Europe, where the seating and pathways are still set up for thrilling chariot races! After exploring one of the best-preserved Roman villas in Spain, the tour continues to the amphitheater, where epic gladiator battles once took place, and ends at the magnificent Roman Theater of Mérida, the largest and best-preserved in Spain! A true journey back in time!
